"Why I Chose Squarespace (And What Keeps Me Loyal to It)"

I first dipped my toes into website design in September 2023, a full year before officially launching Story Reimagined in September 2024. During those early days, I experimented with several platforms—GoDaddy, Wix, even WordPress—but quickly found myself overwhelmed and frustrated. While those tools might work for some, they just didn’t feel intuitive or streamlined enough for what I envisioned myself or my clients needing.

That’s when I discovered Squarespace—and everything clicked. It was modern, beautifully designed, and incredibly user-friendly. What really sealed the deal for me, though, was how easy it made client handoffs. If you’re looking for a platform that balances design flexibility with simplicity, Squarespace is hands-down my go-to—and the reason I’ve stuck with it ever since.

Why I’m Team Squarespace: My Top 3 Favorite Features

After testing out all the platforms (and nearly losing my mind in the process), I landed on Squarespace—and haven’t looked back since. It’s the platform I trust for my clients, my own business, and the templates I design for fellow creatives and small business owners. Whether you're DIY-ing your site from scratch or customizing one of my Story Reimagined templates, here are three reasons why Squarespace has my loyalty:

1. Design Freedom… Without the Overwhelm

One of the biggest myths I hear? “Squarespace is too limiting.” Nope. Not even close. With features like the Fluid Engine, you can drag, drop, and fine-tune everything with total control—no coding required (but still an option if you're feeling fancy). It’s the perfect mix of creative freedom and structure. Every site I create—template or custom—feels unique and true to the brand vision. So yes, you can have a custom look without the stress!

2. All-in-One Tools That Actually Work

As a business owner (and soon-to-be mom!), I don’t have time to bounce between a hundred different tools. Squarespace has built-in features for email marketing, online stores, scheduling, blogging, SEO, and even analytics—all ready to go and easy to use. No extra plugins needed. Of course, you can add extras if you want to, but the fact that you don’t have to? Huge win. It’s one of the reasons I confidently hand off sites to clients and why my templates are built to be easy and self-sufficient from day one.

Personally, I have embedded forms from a few other tools that help my user and client experience be more professional and smooth-sailing using HoneyBook (Client Relationship Management Tool) and Kit (Email Marketing). 3. Mobile Magic, Every Time

Let’s be real—most people are viewing your website from their phone. With Squarespace, I don’t have to cross my fingers and hope it looks decent on mobile... it just works. While you’ll still want to pop into the mobile editor to fine-tune layouts after designing the desktop version, the process is simple and straightforward. Squarespace’s responsive design automatically adjusts to different screen sizes, saving me hours of manual tweaking and giving clients peace of mind. Whether someone’s scrolling on a laptop, tablet, or phone, your site will look clean, polished, and professional—every time.

Don’t Just Take My Word For It…

One of my favorite things about Squarespace is how empowered my clients feel once their site is live. With easy handoffs, step-by-step Loom tutorials, and a platform that’s simple to navigate, they’re able to confidently manage and update their websites without the fear of breaking anything. Whether they’re booking clients, selling products, or simply showing off their brand—Squarespace makes it seamless, and my clients are proof of that.

“My wife didn’t just build my website—she completely reimagined it. I had a vision, but she took it further than I ever expected. Her attention to detail, creativity, and ability to make the process simple for me was next-level. Clients started signing up for camps and clinics right away. She turned a basic idea into a game-changing tool for my business.”

"Working with Alex to create my website was a game-changer! She helped plan, organize, and bring my vision to life, saving me so much time. If you're a small business owner who doesn’t have the bandwidth to handle the details of building a website or organizing inventory, Alex is the one to call!"

Always Evolving — And That’s a Good Thing

One of the things I love about Squarespace? It’s not a “set it and forget it” kind of platform. They’re constantly rolling out fresh features, design updates, and tools that keep things feeling modern and ahead of the curve. And if you like being in-the-know (hi, fellow web designers and DIYers 👋), their Circle Forum is gold.

You’ll get a front-row seat to what’s launching next, plus access to real questions from other designers and business owners—and the official answers straight from the Squarespace team. It’s like having a behind-the-scenes pass to the platform itself. Whether you're customizing a template or building client sites, you’ll always feel one step ahead with what’s coming.

In a fast-moving digital world, I’m confident Squarespace will keep evolving—and I’m here for it.
